The Life Behind

This will be the first of a series of veiled women that I will be focusing on.  What stands out to me is the background.  The background is usually my least favorite part of the composition, but for some reason, I am passionate about this one.  Perhaps it is the somber message that touches me here.  Painting during the war, I wanted to focus one the people that are really affected by what's going on.

This is another painting where I only use the painting knife.  I don't really know what I was going for here.
