The Medusa Series I

2005

Using a resist chemical instead of wax and applying the dye directly to the fabric with a brush, I have simplified the batik process, giving the works a whole different feel.  As seen in most of my paintings, my main focus is the use of color and the intensity of the facial expression.  I also experiment with transforming a part of the body, the hair, that is seen as dead into a live entity.
