Dreads and Roots

Interweaving the subject’s dreadlocks with her root-like fingers, I want to show the commonality between nature and the human form.  I also want the viewer to feel her pain, taste her tears, and sympathize with her emotions.

While obviously full of emotion much like Dreads and Roots, the only thing that portrays her feelings is her downward gaze and her pouting lips.  I’ve taken out the tears in attempt to convey the expression in a more subtle manner.  The rain, whose lines are meant to clash with those of the dreadlocks, takes the place of her tears.
